POLISEMY
Polysemy
Polysemy is derived from the word poly and sema , meaning ' many' and 'sign
' . So , polysemy means a word that has many meanings . In Indonesian we
encounter words that bear the burden of meaning so much. Polysemy is a word
that has more than one meaning for their many components within the meaning of
the concept of a word .
Polysemy
are words that have meaning or significance more than one because of the many components
of the concept of the meaning of a word . Example polysemy words :
Head
The basic meaning of the head is part of the body above the neck ,
where the brain and central nervous jarngan .
The head is a very important part of the body compared to some other parts of the human limbs .
In addition means that important parts of the body , the head is used in the context
of other applications , including :
a. Part of objects after the top or front, example : the head of the stick and masthead .
b . Leader or chairman , example : the head office , the commanding officer , and head area.
c . As a metaphor or a phrase, for example: shrimp heads , two heads , and a large head .
The use of the word head in the third context of the above does not give rise to different meanings.
These meanings still have one thing in common .
The basic meaning of the head in this case is ' part that has a very important position ' .

Before taking a decision , we have to find the root of the problem (the cause ) first .
Banyan roots ( the part that sustains plant ) that almost made me fall .
Right hand
Pak Andi has a dozen years into the right hand ( the trust ) boss .
His right hand ( body parts ) dislocated after playing badminton in the square .
Polysemy concerned the problems of multiplicity of meaning can sometimes confusing users to
discuss , but it did not obtain a reasonable place in the teaching .
multiplicity of meaning can arise in various ways .
Grammatical factors , benthic grammatical hitter could mean a tool to measure or hitting .
a phrase also could lead to multiplicity of meaning despite supporting words phrases that individually
do not pose a multiplicity example, parents could be a person who is elderly or father and mother .
likewise on the sentence the student was reading a new history book .
